She did survive...
Retweet this button on every post blogger
I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere & endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles – Christopher Reeve. That’s exactly how I feel about my 5th grade hindi teacher. Her wide toothed smile, bright shining eyes and her big spiral curls cascading down her shoulders could brighten up anyone’s day. I can’t even imagine how she might be passing through the darkening days of her life. She was diagnosed with breast cancer. Going through her chemotherapy she started dressing up with a headscarf. I had an undesirable urge to ask her whether she was ashamed of being bald. Not knowing how to suppress it, I went ahead. She replied to me, ‘No, I am not, I would roam about bald if only people see me for what I am and not how I look.’ Despite her failing health condition, she used to come to school and teach everyday. At that time I thought she was crazy to do so. But now I realize it is because she found solace in teaching. Educating others would make her forget about her own worries. Her real life example has taught me that we should never lose hope and succumb to our conditions; instead we should fight it and surprise others by being an ultimate survivor. And yes she did survive..

NOTD - Breast Cancer Inspired
Retweet this button on every post blogger
xoxo
I was inspired by Sharon's manicure & decided to give a try. I'm really bad with nail art as simple as polka dots too!! So somehow I was super happy that this turned out just fine :D and it stayed for 3 days yayy (not really an notd :P)
Boutique in Brown (Italy brand)
Can you see that lovely little keychain in the background? I got that from Avon to support Breast Cancer. It is an iron keyring featuring one round plate(approx.diameter 3cm) with magenta crusade ribbon on one side and a flower shape plate(approx.diameter 2cm).
I got this for 15dhs (around $4.09). I request you all to show your support to any brand or organization that is contributing towards breast cancer research or in any other way to raise awareness about this issue. thank you :)
xoxo

New Products from Avon
Retweet this button on every post blogger
I am a die hard Avon fan !! I have tried quite a lot of their products and have had mostly good experiences with them :)
I was just having a look at the latest Avon brochure given to me by my neighbour who happens to be an Avon representative. There are quite a lot of stuff which caught my eye and I thought to share them with you.
Ella Ballerina
This is a new range - Ella Ballerina introduced for kids/teenagers by Avon. I would say its quite a nice collection which includes Caranel Shine Lip Gloss, Starlight strawberry lip balm, Princess Perfect body lotion, Beautiful Ballerina Body Wash & Shining Star Shampoo. Its quite a nice range but I doubt it would work very well reason being mostly teenage girls (unlike ladies) won't really go searching for Avon representatives until its someone close they know whose selling it. Even though the pricing is great for teens, they would rather prefer to purchase it directly from drugstores avoiding all the shipping and waiting issues.
Avon Glimmerstick Diamonds Eyeliner
I'm sure you must have heard of Avon Glimmerstick eyeliners. If you haven't let me tell you they are great !!! Now even though the original ones are called glimmersticks they don't really have much shine to them. This on the other hand claims to have more glimmers than the original ones hence its called Glimmerstick Diamonds. Colors available are:- Emerald Glow, Black Ice & Sugar Plum. As you can see there is a great offer of buy 2 & get 1 free going on. I'm actually getting tempted to get it !!
Avon Color Speed Dry+ Nail Enamel
You must have heard all the rave about Avon's Nailwear Pro nail enamel. This Speed Dry+ nail enamel claims to dry in less than 30 seconds. It is also specially designed brush delivers just the right amount of formula, so there's no mess and no fuss. Sounds great right?
Plus they have different colors compared to Nailwear Pro. Another reason to try out !!
Avon's Velvet Cream Eyeshadow
Seeing all the different colors on the eyes, I'm getting super tempted to buy this plus I don't really own a cream eyeshadow. I guess this one would be good to start out. I just don't trust the colors shown :(
Arabian Glow Sweep Cheeks in Roasted Nugget
I have been wanting to try this for quite sometime just wasn't sure since I haven't seen a single review about this product and I am just too skeptical to pay 79 bucks and not find a great difference !! So if you purchase it or know how it looks do let me know.
P.S. don't the bronzing pearls look super tempting too :P
Color Trend Eyeshadow Palettes
I like the look of Tempting Twilight more than Pastel Passion just because of that green. It's such a pretty light greenish color. I haven't come across a similar shade anywhere else. but again I don't trust the pics :(
Outspoken by Fergie
I love, love, love Fergie & the BEP itself for that matter. I can never get enough of their music!!
Outspoken by Fergie is scented with frosted berries, tuberose and sexy black leather. I have heard amazing reviews about its EDP. It's like the fragrance of 2010!!
So guys what's tempting you to buy? Have you indulged in any Avon products lately? I'm looking for some good reccomendations :)

Etude Haul
Retweet this button on every post blogger
I had to shop for my friend's birthday gift so thought of splurging on some stuff myself too :P In case you haven't heard of Etude, it is an awesome singaporean beauty brand!! & you know what the best part is it's located right behind my house!! look at the wonderful goodies I got :D
The lip gloss is again for friend. It's a lovely coral orange glitter gloss which looks lovely. It's a fruity tube. you get those bottle glosses too but I didn't find the wands of those glosses good so took this one as a safer option. Also got a sample etude foundation for free :D I just hope the guy gave it according to my shade. I wasn't allowed to test it since it was complimentary.
What you think of my purchases? Do you use any Etude products? Do recommend me some great etude products :)
I usually don't get the cash to spend so much at once on makeup but friend's birthday excuse saved me :P
You can see the big black pouch thingy? That is a set of makeup brushes which I got for the friend. I own the same one & will do a detailed review on that laters. Also the small black e/s is for her. It's called etude star e/s in #17. It's one of the most pigmented matte black's with glitter.
Doesn't this e/s look lovely ?? I am sorry I can't swatch it because it's for my friend but I guess you can make out the lovely shade. It's a pearly very very light peach but pretty much pigmented. The best part is its container!! It's so cute plus you can easily take it out using that finger holding thingy and once inside it has a secure clasp which is great.
These I got for me. The eyelashes are quite similar to what jennifer had posted for a giveaway. I just realized its available here too but very less variety to choose from. The silver thingy are nail rhinestones in star shapes. There were 3 shapes:- triangles, stars & paisley available.

Mac Vs. Inglot Nail Polishes/Lacquers (Test)
Retweet this button on every post blogger
Most of us are skeptical to buy high brand polishes. But quality matters to me more than anything. I never get the desired results with most of the drugstore brands out there. These polishes are definitely on the higher side price wise but believe me they are worth all of it !!
So I took a 7 day test using these nail paints of Mac & Inglot on both my hands simultaneously to see the which one lasts longer and does not chip.
Nail Paints chosen:- Mac's Phosphor which is from the Neo Sci Fi collection of 2008 and Inglot's 946.
I know both the colors are totally different plus the finish is also different. Mac's Phosphor has a frost finish to it whereas Inglot's 946 has a creme finish. I was told by the Mac MUA's that they use pretty much the same formulation in their polishes even now so quality wise it wouldn't make a great deal of a difference.
I know you would be wondering why chosing such bright colors this fall, the reason is there is no fall where i stay. I know weird but its only summers for 10 months!! (sucks right?) & winters for 2 months barely. So right now its still summer bang on in dxb!! anyways to be fair to both the polishes i painted them on alternate fingers of both my hands. Since i'm right handed I do 99% of my work with right hand only therefore i knew it won't stay for long on the nails of my right hand.
On my left hand:- Base coat, 1 coat of the nail polishes each & a top coat
On my right hand:- Base coat, 2 coats of polishes & a top coat
I found the mac's brush really uncomfortable to hold because of the thick small cap holding & apply specially since I cannot apply polishes perfectly using my left hand on my right hand nails. plus the brush bristles would get seperated quite easily which was definitely an annoyance. On the other hand, Inglot brush was easier to hold & use because the long and thin cap holding as you can see in the pics below. plus the brush bristles were really dense and did not get seperated easily at all. Inglot +1
My first chip took place on the 3rd day that too on the thumbnail of my right hand. It was the inglot polished nail. I actually did expect the inglot polish to chip first since its consistency is pretty thin compared to mac's polish. I have tried Mac's creme polishes as well and they definitely have a thick consistency that you would really not require to put another coat of polish. I noticed by the end of my 7-day test Inglot chipped much much more compared to Mac. MAC +1
Moving to price, Phospor came for Dhs 50 which is around $14 whereas Inglot came for Dhs. 35 (this is their standard price for all polishes) which is around $9.5. Plus The quanity of the Inglot polish is 15 ml whereas the Mac polish is 10 ml. Inglot +1
Inglot definitely wins according to me. but Mac is great as well. In short i would recommend polishes of these brands to people who actually wear polishes once in a while so they def wouldn't want polishes to chip so easily plus some colors are so great you would not be able to find exact dupes of those colors anywhere !!
Have you tried polishes of these brands? Do you prefer them over you drugstore polishes?
