Trend Alert: Retro Pop Handset

Retweet this button on every post blogger
Don't these Retro Pop Handset look so cute? Just look at the awesome colors.I am totally digging the pink, orange & gold (below) especially!! ♥

Designed by the French designer David Turpin, the POP handset combines classic style with a contemporary edge. The handset has a high quality speaker and microphone supplied with the 3.5mm jack that will plug into just any type of mobile phone, iPhone, iPad, blackberry, laptops, netbooks & computers. The Pop Phone also includes noise-cancelling, which should improve call clarity in noisier situations.

Want to know the best part? It eliminates 99% of absorbed phone radiation. In today's cell-phone obsessed world we soo need this!! And it has soft-touch texture like super soft rubber. Totally lush!

The not so good part? It's size! Carrying it around would be such a pain especially with us girls who prefer using smaller bags or clutches whenever possible. I wonder how would guys incorporate in their day to day functions and carry them around everywhere? Or is it such a great deal?

Availability: Virgin Megastore

What do you think guys? Will you try out these handsets? Or give it a pass? Do you think this trend will last long? Or are we all just going through the Lady Gaga's 'Telephone' phase?

Monday Mourns: Broken GHD & Turkey Earthquake

Retweet this button on every post blogger

Many seem to detest Monday since the weekday starts this day. I however, had my reason enough to mourn this Monday. A broken GHD!!!!! Isn’t that depressing enough???

Yes I know, you are wondering how on earth I ever broke this. Well, I stepped on it by mistakely while in a rush for work early morning *super embarrassed*. Anyhow, is there absolutely any way I can fix this?? I don’t remember my GHD coming with a warranty and I lost the receipt! Sephora Dubai Mall almost refuses to pick up my phone!! It’s such a shame since I got it just around 4 months back that too with my own hard earned money! My fellow bloggers kindly help :)

Turkey Earthquake

An earthquake hit yesterday at the eastern city of Van (Turkey). My heartfelt sympathies to all those who lost their loved ones in this quake of 7.2 magnitude. They are still searching for injured people amongst the rubbles. I am personally quite saddened by this event as I was supposed to go to Istanbul which is in the north region during the upcoming Eid holidays with my friends. Everyone seems to be bummed about going now! Hoping things will work out *fingers crossed*

Hope you guys have a lovely week!

TRESemmé UK Event with Tanya Burr!!

Retweet this button on every post blogger
TRESemmé UK held a wonderful get together event on 20th September at the Westin Hotel, Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, Dubai.  Beauty and fashion bloggers from the region were invited to this event.

Dominic Smales
We were given a warm welcome by super excited and smiling face of Dominic Smales, Gleam Digital MD who made this event happen here in Dubai. We had a lovely chat where he was extremely happy to discover that TRESemmé was the first brand to hold such an event in Dubai for us bloggers.

We got to meet the UK’s famous YouTube guru Tanya Burr aka pixi2woo. She makes great makeup tutorials. We also got to meet her boyfriend, Jim Chapman who runs one of the top men’s grooming channel in youtube. Both are lovely people!

Raymond Moussan working on Tanya's hair

The event started with Raymond Moussan, a top local hairstylist of Moussan Beauty Salon, Dubai demonstrating styling techniques on Tanya’s hair. He also enlightened us with the proper usage of TRESemmé products along with some useful styling and hair care advice.

This was followed by a steady discussion and Q&A session with Raymond and Dominic. Dominic had requested us bloggers to pass on specific hair related questions by mail prior to the event so they can know what kind of issues are more common with women in Dubai. Turns out most of them are related to the humidity, the way it affects our hair. We also got a great insight about TRESemmé products to use specific to our needs.

Drink and canapés served were delicious. I got to meet lots of local talented bloggers and also received this goodie bag!

I was infact given 2 goodie bags but the weight was so much on one of the bags that it broke while carrying!

I am awed by how much this company cares about its consumers located in diverse regions and especially a big market like the Middle East. Dominic, Tanya and Jim actually came over from the UK just for a day for this event. And when they discovered we have a totally different issue with our hair as compared to the consumers in the west, they got our initially goodies (24Hr Body Shampoo & Conditioner) exchanged with the Heat Defense range shipped over especially. A totally unneeded but a great gesture!

Thanks TRESemmé UK & Dominic for the lovely event!

The Pink Rose Campaign

Retweet this button on every post blogger
My aunt got diagnosed with Breast Cancer just 5 days back. What a time to discover one has breast cancer right? We are still kind of shaken with the news and hoping and praying she recovers from this illness as soon as possible. Also, one of my teachers suffered from breast cancer and she did survive; which definitely lifts up my hopes. (See Here )

As you can figure out this cause is much personal to me in regards to my close ones. But even as a woman, I feel very much responsible to make people aware of what they can do & how they can help their community battle against this together.

A local floral company called ‘Worood’ has launched an inspiring campaign to show their dedication to this cause & try to help raise breast cancer awareness. All you have to do is just like their facebook page, and enter your very own personalized message of hope, support & admiration to patients of cancer.

For every like you make, Worood will be sending a pink rose to these cancer patients. You will also be sent a picture of the rose sent on your behalf. Imagine the smile on their face when they receive a rose by complete stranger with a message full of hope & support. It's definitely worth that precious smile! Let us all be proactive and like the page to raise awareness on a disease that kills most women in the world!

Essence Haul & an item FAIL!

Retweet this button on every post blogger

This is a much pending haul! I actually purchased these Essence products a while ago when I saw them in Avenue. But nowdays, there are Essence stands in Carrefour too. Essence Cosmetics is a German made brand that sells make up at VERY cheap prices and the quality is pretty good for the price. I would say it’s like our very own version of wet n wild! You won’t believe what my total bill came for the following 8 products: AED 118!!! That’s roughly just AED 15 per product. Ain’t that awesome?

The main highlight of my haul is the metallic liquid eyeliners. I had been searching for affordable ones in good colors for long and my search ended here. I swatched all of them in the store and decided instantly to get them all. I got in dark brown, purple, pink, sea green and silver glitter one. I will do a detailed review with swatches soon.

Next, I purchased a white eyeliner. I swatched the Rimmel and Prestige one in the store too. But honestly, I found them to be more or less of the same quality so I picked up this at a cheaper price.
Then, my eyes fell on the Essence Return to Paradise Oil Blotting Sheets. A must have if you live in a humid place like me!

And I gave the final touches to my haul by adding a French manicure & pedicure pen in a light pink color. It was available in white too. I have seen some great Essence nail paints in many nail polish blogs. So, I thought of grabbing this pen thinking it would be of good quality. But, I was soooo wrong! I haven’t used this product at all because I never got the chance too. Guess what I see just a few days back after opening the cap of the pen?
I am not sure if you can make out but the nib or point of the pen actually went inside!! It broke or became loose and just fell inside. So now there is no way I can use this on my nails because even if I push the nib out it falls back inside due to some internal breakage. TOTAL FAIL!!
